A Crystal Ball Into Video Conferencing Systems

By Rosella Campbell

Meetings are part of everyday life especially for the business or working class of people. Video conferencing systems are innovative solutions that enable people to hold meetings irrespective of where they are in the world. Individuals from one country can easily attend a virtual conference through the use of a variety of technological equipment and resources. The above invention has been in existence for some time now but it is gaining huge acceptance and popularity as time goes by.

The above systems have been in use for almost a century now. The earliest recorded occurrence of use of teleconferencing for meetings is in Germany. Later on, this innovation gained favor in other parts of the world such as the United States of America. It has a wide range of applications for instance in various electronic learning set ups.

Teleconferencing has come a long way since it was invented some time back in the twentieth century. The above technology has been used in many areas of specialization. People have needed to talk on a face to face basis for some time now and this innovation has greatly enabled this to happen. Examples where such systems are made use of is for instance when holding group meetings for multinational companies and organizations.

Output devices for the same are also required. These gadgets are responsible for the capturing and relaying of the information being transmitted among the multiple locations in real time. The other very important device required in the above set up is a computer. This is the machine that will act as the work station for all other peripherals being used in the teleconferencing. All input and output devices will be connected to a computer fitted with appropriate software.

Video chatting or online conferencing through use of a computer and a web cam is one of the simple ways to describe how these systems work. The only difference between video chatting and teleconferencing is that the latter is best reserved for groups of individuals who are in most cases located in multiple locations across the world.

There are two types of systems that fall under this category of equipment. One of them is a dedicated conferencing system. This is a group of independent entities whose sole work is to enable people to meet through a wireless transmission service. All the necessary equipment required for teleconferencing are packaged into one system. This means that cameras and microphones are incorporated into the package.

Big multinational companies are gradually embracing this concept and are setting up these special rooms in their various headquarters in different parts of the world. This solution saves a lot of money that would have been used to transport individuals from one city to another. The time and finances that could be used during the process of travelling to attend a certain meeting are channeled to acquiring a fully dedicated virtual conference system.

The other option that is available for smaller institutions is outsourcing a desktop based teleconferencing system. This is a cheaper option that can go a long way in assisting small groups of people to hold virtual meetings without necessary investing a lot of money on a dedicated system.
