The rise in urbanization has led to destruction of the natural rural environment in most towns. The Harrison hot springs community is an exemption from this generalization as it is able to provide a rural touch that is not over crowded and beautiful natural environs. Below is a brief outlook of this rural village.
This small community has been in existence acting as a resort village for a time period beginning about 1886. The hoteliers exploited this place and it was incorporated on the year 1949. The hot springs, which are also its namesake, acts as the main tourist attraction drawing people to relish themselves in the village spa resort. A series of hot springs characterizes the village and the content of sulfur goes on decreasing as you move northwards.
It has been noted by some geologists that there is an unstable rock above the northern end of the large fresh water Harrison Lake. The rock is predicted to collapse in the lake and generate a very big wave that might cause destruction on the Harrison Hot Springs town which is located at the south end. The time for this is unknown but definitely not in near future and geological activities at the long run may rectify this.
The population at this village has been growing steadily over the recent couple of years. The major economic activity is tourism which results from the springs. More than half the working population find employment in the service industries with the rest being divided in government, manufacturing, retail and construction in addition to minor activities in other fields. Apart from the natural hot water jets, there are no manufacturing industries on the lake.
Following an initiative of (Ret) Andy Naismith after World War 2, the corporation of this community got incorporated to as a municipality. The mayor and some four other councilors preside over the community administration. Its representation is done at the Canadian House of Commons at its federal position.
The near proximity to Seattle and Vancouver makes Harrison to become a perfect retreat for all year round. A myriad of happenings are offered and they range from boating and fishing to rock climbing, skiing and exploration on this bucolic countryside. Apart from that, a few places can also boast of four golf courses which are at a drive of about fifteen minutes.
The resorts have very fine rooms with good beds and the hot pools make them even more fantastic. The staffs are very professional coupled with friendliness and willingness to help you around. The food is very delicious and though the meal price is quite high it is really worth. The gardens and landscaping that surrounds the lake are very nice. The springs and the numerous pools are very clean and relaxing and have facilities for changing on the public beach.
Ensure you pay a visit to this rustic setting in one of your vacations and it is a bet that you will for sure enjoy every moment. Tag along with your friends in order to enhance the fun and adventure through skiing, exploration and camping among other nerve-racking activities.
