Twitter Has Introduced The Buy Button To Enable In-Tweet Transactions

By Bilal Hamdan

Twitter has now turned itself into a shopping mall by introducing a "buy button" onto its platform. The initial thrust is going to limit the application to mobile applications only, and that only to short term gigs such as T-shirts and events tickets. The idea for Twitter is to create a totally new revenue stream for a company that relies mostly on advertising at the present time.

Competition for mobile applications is heating up as 60 to 70 percent of all of the searches are now being conducted by mobile devices. Apple has already introduced its own phone-based payment system and Facebook is testing their version already.

Although it is considered an early step in regard to improving Twitters functionality, it shows great promise and makes it even easier for people to use their mobile devices when doing transactions. Users will get access to merchandise and offers that are not available anywhere but Twitter, and you can access all of this using iOS and android phones.

You would have to say that Twitter is out in front, as they are actually testing a live platform, and probably in the correct area too. Interestingly enough many of the users of the social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook already use an embedded link to divert buyers to another source where they can purchase products, it is just that by having their own direct purchase links, the social media sites can charge a fee, where as now they cannot.

This will allow people to buy more freely when they are on Twitter. They won't have to go to another website to do so. This will free up more time which will be a good thing. As time goes on, Twitter keeps getting more and more exciting. There is more you can do on it and more ways to connect. It will be interesting to see what they will do in the future.

One of the best things about Twitter is the website is constantly coming up with creative strategies to assist individuals who have e-commerce businesses. Twitter has now enabled a convenient buy button, which you can turn to for in-tweet purchases, which makes making revenue on the Internet quite a bit easier. You also are able utilize this on any smartphone, including android and Apple phones, and this is being used by a select group of individuals during the initial testing phase. Partners such as Stripe and Fancy are taking part in this initial testing.
