Creative Internet Marketing Techniques And Methods You Can Use Right Now

By William Gibson

In the social age we inhabit today, almost everyone uses a computer for some reason or another. This means there is always great opportunity out there for Internet marketers. However, in order to be a success at your marketing exploits, you first have to learn the game. Follow us as we explain a little bit about marketing as a whole.

Add your website as a link in each signature block you use. If you are active on a message board, include a link within your signature block. Include the link in your email signature, so that people will see it whenever you send a message. This is a nearly subliminal way to advertise your website to the people you come across on the Internet. It could boost your search rankings as well. Right before the link itself, add an attention-grabbing phrase or sentence that makes clicking irresistible.

If you are currently creating print advertisements, consider putting a QR code on them to engage people online. In this way, you merge print advertising and internet marketing into one. A QR code is a checker box that people can scan with their phones, in order to visit your website, possibly being directed to a coupon page or other promotional resource, for your business.

Some social media sites will consider you a spammer if you're promoting affiliate links with them, but others around the web are more receptive to it. As long as you're writing quality content and are not spamming links out there, sites like Squidoo and EzineArticles will accept your links. Just remember to keep things at one link per article.

Have a resource page to information that you've posted on your product and include a small link to it on all pages of your site. Use this page to link back to reviews you've done and additional information on the products. Make sure to keep the page updated. If you haven't added content to it in years then no one is going to go back to it.

Always put your business URL on your business cards. This is a simple way to increase traffic to your site. Hand these cards out whenever you get the chance. Many people are more open to the idea of visiting a website if it is directly connected to someone they have met.

Build relationships with the media covering your industry. Both web and print journalists are always looking for interviewees and new story angles. You want to be top of mind when those moments happen. Just a simple quote in an online article can have a ripple effect on your site traffic.

Show off your goods or services in video. A picture paints a thousand words, and a video paints a thousand pictures. Video is the medium of the next generation and many internet users expect a video on professional websites. If you do not have a video, savvy internet users may question the professionalism of your business.

Use numerical lists to draw in readers. Numerical lists do two things. They lay out action items that a reader can take to accomplish some goal in an easy to read format, and it also breaks the article up into digestible chunks, which is important because people click away from walls of text.

Even though Internet marketing allows you to reach every corner of the globe, running an ad for your business in a local newspaper or directory will turn you on to more customers than you realize. You can even go the "gonzo" route and start stuffing flyer's under windshields if you think it will bring in traffic.

If the customer rating / review system on your website is full of negative comments you think are hurting sales, resist the temptation to delete the bad reviews. Canceling the whole system is your only escape route. If you cherry-pick good reviews you will be caught at it, severely damaging your website's credibility. Shutting down the review system also hurts, but it is preferable to the alternative.

Get website feedback from a friend who has not seen your site before. Your site is your baby and you work on it all the time. But your visitors come to your website as complete strangers, and they interact with it in ways that you, with your owner's familiarity, cannot expect. Listen to feedback from a trusted first-time visitor to learn how your visitors experience your site.
