Handmade Beeswax Candles Can Help With Sleep Issues

By Marie Peterson

Anyone who likes to burn candles or incense at night or just want to create a serene environment may find they can also save money. For those who like to buy these often know that not all products are made the same. Some items that are pricey may have a strong scent but for some, these aromas may be overpowering. Others who may want something that will burn for hours may not which product will be the best investment. People who have made the conversion to handmade beeswax candles find these serve a multitude of purposes around the home.

Relaxation is the best way to get a sound sleep session. For a lot of adults, this can be hard to do regularly. Even those who may often experience what some call good stress, which may result from engaging in activity that is stimulating to the soul, it helps to get at least six hours of sleep every night.

Keeping a calm demeanor as often as possible has a lot of health benefits. This is why some families are using candles to create a quiet hour before going to bed. In most cases, this means no electronics are being used after a certain hour and reading a book may be encouraged.

The slightly sweet scent is ideal for ridding spaces of stuffy or stale aromas that are common when homes are closed up all day. If a person spends a lot of time on the road, the only time they are able to open their windows might be on their days off. Burning one of these after a long day can also create a relaxing atmosphere.

If possible, take part in physical activity before the end of the day. Low impact exercises like walking along a nature path, yoga, or something that promotes stretching like reiki. While some parks offer these classes to adults, there are also streaming videos that can help anyone get started.

Another way to relax with candles is meditation. This has nothing to do with religious practices or taking on beliefs that may be contradictory. While there are many books and online media that show how to do this, all it really takes is having a clean area to sit and concentrate. There are even some positions that can be done at an office desk. Instead of taking a smoke break, taking time to focus or stretch not only costs less than cigarettes but is a lot healthier.

Once at home, turning off stimulators is important. A lot of people have a favorite television that may get a person so excited that it will take hours to get to sleep. The same also applies to live or phone conversations with others. If there is a matter to be resolved, try to wrap it up quickly or resume at a time when both parties can have an extended conversation.

Finally, drinking herbal tea at night instead of alcoholic beverages is better for a deep somber. There are many ingredients that can help a person relax versus the carbohydrates and sugars in most beer and cocktail drinks. If money is an ongoing stressor, it helps to know that tea usually costs less than alcoholic beverages per serving.
